AJ practicing for her inevitable rematch with Trixie in season 03.
Time it took: Since December.
I joined the herd in October, and Applejack was the first pony I tried to draw. She didn't turn out quite right... Since then, I found many tutorials (you guys are awesome!) and became further pony-obsessed. The majority of the effort was put into getting to know pony anatomy and proportions.
I finished her mane and tail and most of her hat when I first started it in December. Body, head, and face took up most of the time since then. A month or two ago, after watching a lot more of the show, I changed her pose to be MUCH more dynamic and worked from there. After some recent realizations about proportions, the face finally looked right!
("right" = show-accurate)
So, one long weekend later (this one!), I added the rope, the apple, her cutie mark, the clouds, and a sizable chunk of Sweet Apple Acres. ^_^
All copyrights and trademarks belong to their respective owner(s). ...sadly enough, I do not own Applejack OR any portion of Sweet Apple Acres.
...apples, however, are intellectual-property-free. EAT AND DRAW AS MANY AS YOU WANT.
EDIT: First group submissions ever and first comments ever! Thanks, everyone!
EDIT 2: 6k (2MB) png uploaded. Fixed *gasp* small errors. Mane wasn't lined up OCD-perfect with her neck, stray line from the top of her mane, and I was getting a weird render-error with the non-background version. That weird render error was eliminated through the addition of a single node. ...though, now there's another one (tip of the tail near the rope), but I can't seem to eliminate it. =/ Anyway, links for both AJ without backgound and the Sta.shed .svg below!
EDIT 3: Smoothed out the lines on her legs and the angles in her mane/tail. ...still can't get rid of that render error. <_< Meh, it's small. lol
